Behind the Mask of Embarrassment

This journey of creating, of birthing my financial coaching business has brought so many wonderful people into my life. It’s also allowed me to hear their stories. What I have heard is why I’m doing this.

Women are anxious and embarrassed about money.

It doesn’t matter the number in your bank account. That anxiousness is felt with a balance of $20 or $20,000.

Why??

Women equate money to a level of safety.

I know, I hear you already….

I would feel SO SAFE with $20,000 in my bank account!

But that feeling of safety doesn’t come from the number.

Feeling safe in your money story comes down to how you behave with money, not with how much you have.

Our behavior with money either paralyzes or empowers us. I remember a time in my life cringing when the mail came, seeing yet another NSF notice. Avoiding my phone ringing because of a collector. Yeah, money was tight and that was not fun!!! But, instead of facing it, it was easier to avoid it. Act like it wasn’t a big deal. I would go get dressed up and head out to dinner with my credit card. I looked and acted like I had everything together… when it was a huge lie.
